We’re determined to be the most sustainable brewery out there.
Here’s how we’ll get there by 2022.

  ENERGY: IMPROVE OUR ENERGY EFFICIENCY BY 20% GOALS

How we're doing it

  • Installing metering devices on equipment to provide real-time energy monitoring
  • Performing an ASHRAE energy audit and implementing its recommendations
  • Identifying and replacing old equipment with more energy-efficient alternatives
  • Continue improving our brewing processes

WATER: IMPROVE WATER EFFICIENCY BY 20%

How we're doing it

  • Installing metering devices on equipment to provide real-time water monitoring
  • Identifying equipment that’s water-intensive and replacing or improving it
  • Continue improving brewing processes
  • Identifying and replacing both indoor and outdoor water fixtures with more water-efficient alternatives

EMISSIONS: IMPROVE DIRECT AND INDIRECT SOURCES OF CARBON EMISSION BY 20%

How we're doing it

  • Working toward 100% carbon offset of CO2 emissions for corporate travel
  • Offsetting 50% of carbon emission of outbound mileage deliveries from the brewery to distributor by 2021
  • Fixing any equipment that currently leaks refrigerants
  • Replacing all refrigerants that directly contribute to climate change (i.e. CFCs) with environmentally-friendly refrigerants
  • Installing electrical charging stations for vehicles
  • Replacing of gas-powered equipment with electric powered equipment

WASTE: 100% OF SOLID WASTE DIVERTED FROM LANDFILL BY 2022

How we're doing it

  • Send 100% of green tea waste, organic solids, and food scraps to be composted
  • Install a waste baler to more accurately sort waste and help improve our recycle capabilities
  • Upcycle our waste into merch items, art, or retail items that we can sell
  • Eliminate plastic from all of our finished goods

HEALTH: CONTINUE TO IMPROVE COMMUNITY HEALTH

How we're doing it

  • Installing a community garden to promote biodiversity and a natural sanctuary for employees to recharge
  • Conserve existing natural habitats around our brewery and restore those that are damaged
  • Implement green cleaning policies to reduce the use of harsh chemicals in all facilities
  • Improve thermal comfort and lighting within office for employees to promote wellbeing
  • Continue to educate the public on sustainability and how to live a greener life

SOURCING: IMPLEMENT AN ENVIRONMENTALLY PREFERABLE PURCHASING (EPP) POLICY

How we're doing it

  • Create and implement an EPP policy that meets our standards
  • By 2022, purchase a minimum of 50% by cost, of total ongoing goods from vendors that meet this EPP policy
