"If you like Piña Coladas..."

Maybe scratch the part about getting caught in the rain and keep the part with the Piña Coladas. It’s warm, the sun is out, and the fun is out. Sounds like the perfect combination to us.

Whether you are lounging by the pool at home, hitting the waves at the beach, or enjoying a day out on the lake, we have four of the tastiest frozen alcoholic drinks you’ll want to have on standby. Sangria and mojitos are classic summer drinks, but we’re opting for something a little icier.

Chances are, you aren’t going to have an electrical outlet at your disposal wherever you’re out catching the rays. No worries, though—they make portable blenders, so you can still enjoy the finer things in life—even while out in the sun.

1. Strawberry Daiquiri

The Strawberry Daiquiri is such a classic that it has an entire day dedicated to its enjoyment. Every year on July 19, National Daiquiri Day is celebrated around the United States. While a staple on every cruise ship today, the Strawberry Daiquiri originated in Cuba.

Made with rum, strawberries (fresh or frozen), simple syrup, ice cubes, and lime, this sweet concoction is as traditional as frozen drinks get.

Combine ingredients in your blender of choice, and blend for 30 to 60 seconds until it has a slushie-like consistency. Pour, sip, and enjoy this delightfully pink drink. Garnish with mint for some extra aesthetic appeal.

2. Piña Colada

Another vintage selection is the Piña Colada. First originating in Puerto Rico during the 1950s, The Piña Colada has been Puerto Rico’s national cocktail since 1978.

To make this tasty frozen treat, you will need ice cubes, pineapple chunks (fresh or frozen), pineapple juice, coconut cream, and white and dark rum. Combine ingredients in a blender and mix until smooth.

Pour into a glass (bonus points if you chilled it in the freezer), top with a paper umbrella, and get transported to your tropical happy place with dessert in a glass.

3. Margarita

What once began in Mexico, the Margarita has become a staple in global drinking culture. During the alcohol prohibition in the 1930s, Americans traveled to Mexico to satisfy their drinking needs and quickly discovered the Margarita. This concoction was unlike any mix they had experienced before, fusing sweet, salty, and sour flavors in one delicious drink.

Now, Americans celebrate this drink annually for National Margarita Day on February 22 — and of course, on Cinco de Mayo which is May 5. Made with tequila, Cointreau (or a comparable orange liqueur), and lime, they can be served chilled or frozen. You’ll also find all kinds of flavor additions, from peach and mango to watermelon. We happen to prefer the frozen variety.

Start with your favorite brand of tequila. Add lime juice and triple sec. Combine liquid and ice cubes in a blender and mix until no visible chunks of ice remain. Pour into a chilled glass. Garnish with salt on the rim and a fresh slice of lime.

4. Painkiller

First concocted in the British Virgin Islands, the Painkiller is just what the doctor ordered to ease any and all of your woes.

The classic version of this is typically made with rum, but we have another twist on the concoction that’s even better — the frozen Midnight Painkiller. Using JuneShine Midnight Painkiller, crafted with coconut, pineapple, orange juices, and spices like activated charcoal and nutmeg, this one is all killer and no pain.

Take one can of Midnight Painkiller and combine it with ice cubes in a blender. Blend for about one minute or until the mixture has reached a smooth, slushy consistency. Pour into a chilled glass. Sprinkle a little nutmeg on top and garnish with a fresh pineapple slice. Drink up, and prepare to have all aches and pains erased.

Final Takeaway

Whether you’re opting for drinks by the beach, pool, or simply just hanging in your backyard, take time to enjoy what Mother Nature has given us. Soak up that vitamin D and rays of sunshine, leisurely sip on your frozen cocktail of choice, and relax. With a portable blender and one (or all) of the drink options above, you’re set up for an awesome day of playing bartender.

With delicious options like Strawberry Daiquiris, Piña Coladas, Margaritas, and Painkillers, you will be set to sit back, relax, and be refreshed while sipping on your frozen concoction. Try one, or heck — try them all while you’re at it!
